About the Authors

Tim Koussas achieved an impressive trifecta of study scores of 50, 48 and 47 in Mathematical Methods, Further Mathematics and Specialist Mathematics when he graduated from Parade College in 2011. He also received a Premier's Award in Mathematical Methods for placing among the top 5 students in the state. He has since completed a Bachelor of Science at La Trobe University, graduating with first class honours as dux of his cohort. Tim is currently undertaking a PhD in the field of Pure Mathematics at La Trobe University.

Samara Cooper graduated from Bialik College in 2007, achieving study scores of 47 in Further Mathematics and 44 in Mathematical Methods. She has since completed a Bachelor of Commerce and a Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne, and is now a Senior Analyst at Deloitte.

Dr William Hoang graduated from Melbourne Grammar School in 2011, achieving an ATAR of 99.90. While still in Year 11, he achieved a perfect 50 in Mathematical Methods and received a Premier's Award in the subject for placing among the top 5 students in the state. Will has since completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine (Chancellor's Scholars Program) and the Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne, and is now a practising doctor.

Max Kausman graduated from Bialik College in 2011 with an ATAR of 99.60. He scored perfect 50s in Further Mathematics and Accounting, and achieved a Premier's Award for placing among the top 5 students in the state for Accounting. Max has since graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours, and is currently working in management consulting.

Dr Nathanael Lampe graduated from St. Kevin's College in 2007 with an ATAR of 99.85 which included study scores of 46 in Specialist Mathematics and 47 in English. He has since completed a double degree in Science and Aerospace Engineering at Monash University, a PhD in Physicas at the Universite Blaise Pascal in France, and is now working as a data scientist.

Brenden Horn graduated from Narre Warren South P-12 College in 2012 with study scores of 46 in English and 41 in Further Mathematics. In keeping with his phenomenal teaching skills, Brenden has proceeded to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Teaching. He is now an English teacher at the Narre Warren South P-12 College, where he had previously graduated from.

Dev Bhattacharya graduated from Melbourne High School in 2010 with an ATAR of 98.85. He has since completed a double Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Commerce at Monash University, and is now working in the finance sector.

Nina Ding graduated from Caulfield Grammar School (Wheelers Hill) in 2007 with an ATAR of 99.60, which included study scores of 44 in Mathematical Methods and 46 in English. She has completed the Bachelor of Laws and Arts at Monash University, and is now a lawyer at the Australian Office of Parliamentary Counsel where Commonwealth legislation is written.

Jessica Darvell graduated from Narre Warren South P-12 College in 2012 with study scores of 47 in IT: Applications and 43 in Further Mathematics.
